3 day Hoof event in Decatur Texas
April 26th 2013 - 1st day
Friday evening 5pm to 9pm
Exploring the Equine Hoof Mini Clinic.
This is a four hour educational clinic designed to help horse owners or other professionals to understand the horses hoof. It will be in lecture format with power point and MANY preserved specimens to demonstrate, parts and pathology.
Clinic runs from 5pm 9pm with snacks provided.

April 27th 2013- 2nd day
Class will start at 9am and end around 5pm
Beginner trim class
This class is geared toward the horse owner that would like to trim their own horses, but doesn't know where to start.
Each class will cover the instructor trimming a cadaver hoof step by step explaining the hoof structure and the parts of the hoof.
After the instructor is done trimming each part of the hoof, each student will trim their hoof.
Students are encouraged to take before and after pictures of their hooves, to compare the finished product to their starting hoof.
After the trim we will break for lunch.
After lunch we will begin dissecting a hoof. Each structure will be observed and it's purpose will be discussed.
Classes are kept small for maximum learning.
The cost for this class is $250.00.
The cost for auditors will be $125.00
A 50.00 non refundable deposit is required to hold a spot in class.

Class will start at 9am and end around 5pm
Intermediate trim class
This class will start with each student trimming a cadaver leg using what they learned at the beginner class.

Students will be expected to analyze their hoof and trim to mimic what they would do in the field.
After all students are done, each student will give a demonstration and explanation of what they did and why.
Again students are encouraged to take before and after pictures to compare finished trim with their starting hoof.
After trimming we will again explore the hoof and dissect to review the inner structures.
We will then break for lunch.
After lunch we will work on live horses.
Focus will be placed on proper stances, safety techniques, and applying the trim to
live horses.
